Arrive with morning flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) where you will be met and greeted by an Armadillo Adventures staff. After clearing customs and immigration, you'll be driven to your hotel in Arusha. Meet your private safari driver/guide after breakfast and be chauffeured to Tarangire National Park, home to one of the largest elephant populations in Africa. Explore the park's unique features including giant baobab trees, some over 1000 years old.
After breakfast at your lodge in Tarangire, continue northwards to Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania's most ecologically diverse parks. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, a behavior seen in only a few places on Earth. These elusive cats are often spotted draped lazily across acacia branches. The park also features the Great Rift Valley escarpment and diverse birdlife.
After an early breakfast, begin the scenic journey toward the Serengeti. Pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at a viewpoint on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Witness the vast caldera stretching 600 meters deep and home to nearly 25,000 animals. Continue into the open plains of the Serengeti ecosystem, entering through Naabi Hill Gate. Enjoy your first game drive in the Serengeti en route to your camp.
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive en route as you depart the Serengeti heading back toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural sanctuary with nearly every species of East African wildlife represented within its walls. The crater floor is a haven for black rhino, large lion prides, spotted hyenas, herds of buffalo, and hippo pools. After an unforgettable half-day game drive and bush picnic, ascend back to the rim and drive to Karatu area for overnight.
After breakfast at your lodge in Karatu, begin your journey back toward Arusha. The drive takes you through the Ngorongoro Highlands, past local farms and villages. Upon arrival in Arusha, enjoy lunch at the elegant Arusha Coffee Lodge, a serene plantation-style retreat. After lunch, visit the Shanga Workshop, a social enterprise that employs people with disabilities to create beautiful handmade products. After the tour, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international flight home.
